We’ve never seen an election like this year’s Clinton vs Trump spectacle. One superbly qualified candidate vs one who has never held elected office and whose interest lies only in winning, not the details of governing. Intelligent, rational people simply shake their heads and wonder how in the hell it ever came to this.
Despite the very real terror of his being elected, I remain somehow fascinated by this narcissistic megalomaniac who throws endless temper tantrums and behaves like a child. With a little bit of luck, Hillary will win, and we’ll never hear from this man again, but we all know he will not go silently and graciously, as is the custom in American politics.
I'll miss my daily dose of Donald jokes
Nevertheless, I for one will miss my daily dose of Donald jokes, cartoons, editorials and letters to the editor. I will miss getting up in the morning and googling the headlines to see if there is any more news about Donald’s sexual assaults. Or any new lawsuits from the people he never paid, from his failed business ventures that were a complete scam from beginning to end.
And I’ll miss the people who have cleverly made fun of Donald
Take Wieden + Kennedy, an advertising agency’s Portland branch that set up a food truck serving "Donald Trump's BS"—baloney sandwiches. They’re beautifully prepared, with wrappers that clarify Trump's remarks on various issues. "We've debunked some of Donald Trump's remarks on eight custom-designed sandwich wrappers, across five different types of baloney sandwiches."
The sandwiches came with:
- Working-Class Hero
- Middle-Class Hero
- America-First Hero
- Border-Security Hero
- Tell-It-Like-It-Is here
Wieden + Kennedy really had some fun with
their baloney sandwiches
The food truck came complete with a chef, a concierge to take orders, menus printed on gold-colored paper, and, of course, the free boloney sandwiches. The sandwich wrappers all carry remarks that show his lies, inconsistencies and complete 180 on the issues.
- “Let’s bring jobs back to America”, says a man whose entire line of clothing is manufactured outside of America.
- “Trump loves veterans, so long as they haven’t been captured or have PTSD”
- “I am willing to pay more in taxes”, says a man who hasn’t paid taxes in 18 years.
We have stooped to new lows in this election. Unfortunately, I think that Donald Trump has sanctioned bigotry, racism and hate. We need a unified country if we’re going to solve problems, and the message that Trump has sent to his supporters allows no room for compromise.
